Clinical

We offer a wide range of clinical services to our patients. They include immunizations, blood glucose screening, blood pressure screening, pregnancy tests and cholesterol screenings. Family planning supplies are provided to patients enrolled in our family planning clinic. Educational resources for these services are also provided. All of these services are free to the public and are available at the locations and times listed in the following table. (Family Planning services are on a sliding fee scale)

• Immunizations (Kenova, free)
• General Health Screens (Kenova, free)
  Glucose testing, cholesterol, blood pressure. This clinic is held the first Wednesday of each month, excluding holidays, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. The clinic is on a walk-in basis.
• Pregnancy Tests (Wayne)
• Family Planning Supplies (Wayne, free to those enrolled in our Family Planning Clinic)
• Family Planning (Wayne)
  We conduct a family planning clinic on Monday afternoons. Physician services are provided by Valley Health Systems, Inc.. This clinic is open to all persons of child-bearing age. Services are offered on an appointment only basis.
• Breast and Cervical Cancer Clinic (Wayne)
  This clinic is held in conjunction with the Family Planning clinic. It is by appointment only so those persons interested in this clinic should contact our office to find out the current month's schedule.

General

The nursing staff of the Wayne County Health Department provides many other services to the people of Wayne County besides the clinical and home health services they do on a regular basis.

School Health

Our nurses assist the school nurses in providing care to our school children. They especially assist in providing Hepatitis B vaccinations to 6th graders, a vaccination program in place now for several years.

Health Fairs

Our nursing staff attend local health fairs and provide educational materials to the public and usually will provide blood pressure exams or other screens while at the fairs.

Home Health

Our health department operates a Medicare Certified Home Health Agency. We provide home health services to all of Wayne County and to parts of Lincoln and Mingo counties. We are approved by Medicare and Medicaid.

  Payment Sources: We accept Medicare, Medicaid, VA Insurance, Private Insurance, and Private Pay.
• 24 hour on-call services
  We offer 24 hour on-call services. If you are a referral agency and would like to make a referral, please call 304-272-6761. Our normal operating hours are from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.. If you need to call after those hours, please call 304-272-6762 and one of our on-call nurses will be paged and will return your call.

Environmental Health

Our environmental health program provides a wide array of services designed to protect the health of our residents and those that visit our county. Our three sanitarians work closely with the Office of Environmental Health Services of the WV Bureau for Public Health.
